With around 23,000 songs on my i-Pod, I spent a year listening only to shuffled music. Whenever Random played me something I liked, I saved it.

Every month, from what I’d saved I put together a CD’s worth of music. To avoid decisions about sequencing, songs were ordered alphabetically by title.

At the end of the year, I had 12 CDs, 219 songs and 14 hours of music. Reduced down to its essence on a single CD of 23 songs, this became the compilation/playlist 'It's All Too Beautiful'.
